Metal-body Planes

Metal-body bench planes have been found in 2,000-year-old Roman excavations. It wasn't until mass production following the American Civil War that they would replace their wooden predecessors. Stanley introduced their line of ten Leo Bailey metal-body bench planes in 1868, making slight changes every five years or so afterward.
