For maximum strength and longevity, a series of wooden joints is used to construct a piece of furniture. Boxes utilize dovetail joints, while frame pieces, such as beds and tables, utilize mortise-and-tenon joinery. Shelves are dadoed and rabbeted; backs and bottoms are rabbeted and grooved. We use lap joinery on faces and frame construction on doors.
