RVP~1875By Carolyn Honeycutt Robby Pedersen, Master Furniture Maker, just recently open the doors of 526 Broad Street with his business RVP~1875. Using tools from the 1800's, Robby designs and builds by hand beautiful furniture in the style of the same period. Can you imagine, no electric saws or drills? Instead each piece is created by Robby using his self-taught skills as a master craftsman with hand planes, chisels, and dove tail interlocking joints. He even cuts down the hardwood trees he uses with an ax! An Iowa native from Jefferson, Robby is excited to be open for business. "I needed a place with hardwood floors and high ceilings, and I just really liked Story City." This shop is definitely worth a trip to downtown to see. Robby enjoys explaining his craft to visitors and if you're looking for a unique trunk, armoire, or bench, consider stopping in to see what he can offer. In addition to furniture making, Robby also appeared on stage for the Ingersol dinner theater, so don't be surprised if you see him in our next Judge Story production. Main Street is pleased to welcome RVP~1875 to downtown Story City. |
